- Sir Robert | Sand Dollar M/C | President
< About Sir Robert President Harley Road Glide Robert Woods has been riding since the mid 1970's. He currently rides a 1996 Harley. Robert’s favorite bike is a Road Glide and would someday like to ride a CBR 1000 sport bike. Robert’s father was one of the founders of the Sand Dollar MC and Robert originally joined for that reason. Today he remains a member partly in honor of his father. Robert enjoys the camaraderie and various backgrounds of the members as well as the diversity of bikes. Robert feels the monthly skills are necessary for everyone riding to learn their bike and it’s dynamics both on and off the highway. It’s a great way to push and expand your limits in a safe, controlled environment. Robert is an avid rider and participates in many rides both long and short. An area he would like to explore on his bike is around Sturgis but not necessarily during the rally. Robert feels the Sandies are going in a good direction and are one of the most versatile motorcycle clubs in regards to safety and wide variety of bikes, with no stereotyping. One thing Robert feels strongly about is creating something the Sandies could leave as a legacy to younger clubs and keep it going forward. We have had very good success raising money for our charity (Elder Services) and seem to be the club that people look up to as we are very community oriented. “The Sand Dollars have a bright future.” president@sanddollarmc.com < Previous Next >

I was convinced it was related to the FW, and Garmin just needed to push an update or let me roll back the update to fix the issue. Took a week of troubleshooting, and a lot of back and forth with Garmin Support. They we just about to send me an RMA number (return material authorization) when I got last ditch instructions on how to reset the Bluetooth connection. I'm not going to lie, everything listed was something I had already done. However, it got me to thinking that maybe my issue wasn't with the device itself, it had to do with how the Tread App interfaces, Android (Apple could have the same issue to be honest) Bluetooth prioritization, setting conflicts, or just strange bugs that hide in code.... So the inner Test Engineer in me came out to troubleshoot. Here are the steps that resolved my issue. I have an Pixel 8 Pro phone, so you will have to adapt to your own device if you are having a similar issue. Remove the Tread App from your Phone Open the app properties Force Stop the App Delete the Cache Delete the data stored in memory Uninstall Tread from your Phone Unpair your Zumo XT2 from your Phone On your phone, open Bluetooth settings and select the Zumo XT2. Then select "Forget". On the Zumo, go to Settings > Phone> then Forget or Unpair Restart Both Devices Long press the power button on your Zumo XT2, then select Power Off Hold the Power Button on your phone, then select Restart (note, in general restart is always preferred if you want to clear RAM) Power back on the Zumo XT2 Reconnect Both Devices On your phone, open the App store, search for Tread (by Garmin), then select install. Once installation completes, open and sign into your account. Open Bluetooth settings and search for a new device (make sure the Zumo XT2 is trying to pair with Tread), add the Device. You can probably use the QR scan to sync it all up, but this is the method I used and it worked. On your Zumo XT2, make sure you phone paired with the device and it is now connected. Fix your Settings The above steps fixed the problems I was having, but I lost access to see and control the music streaming from my phone. I thought I could live with it, turns out I couldn't. I set the Zumo as a trusted device in my phone settings - may not have helped On the Tread App, go to Settings, then Notifications. It will kick you over to your phone notification settings. Add Tread to grant access to your phones notifications. I immediately saw the album art and gained control over the music playing. I hope this helps someone out there. If nothing else, yes the XT2 is worth it. You can't use Basecamp, and I know that freaks out legacy users. Garmin still has a long way to go to shed the shackles of their legacy software, but this is a decent first step. < Back Pat Griffin 1961 - 2021 Pat Griffin Pat joined the Sand Dollar's in 2016. He made sport out of making any situation more awkward. I didn't get the opportunity to ride with Pat very often, everyone would always have a Pat story to share whenever we would meet up. Pat would always give a sheepish smile and confirm the authenticity of the shenanigans as told. Bobby B Previous Next

Neither of us were the same afterward. Could Terry ride... Terry was an excellent bike handler. Don't let the picture in the gravel fool you, Terry was an excellent rider. Terry was taken from us way too early, we miss him greatly. Terry logged 15,914 miles as a Sandie and will forever be remembers by all of those fortunate enough to ride with him. Previous Next
- SDMC member Bill Sleigh memorial
< Back Bill Sleigh 1935 - 2007 The Sand Dollar Motorcycle Club spells its name two different ways, runs poker runs backwards, thinks the fewer road maps on hand the better, thinks the more U-turns during a ride the better, attracts rain and cold for scheduled rides but presses on anyway, has members with many different clothes, and will call you at 11 o’clock at night and say “let’s ride, they’re tearing down the Navarre bridge toll gate”. This club seems to pride itself on being unofficially non-conventional as in “The Sandie Way”. This is reflected in the skills sessions, in particular the box. While convention now says avoid convention and think “outside the box” it fits that the Sandies would do the opposite and stay “inside the box”. To further thumb their nose at convention, (sorry but this is my last chance to say it) the Sandie Box is real not theoretical, drawn on the ground in chalk and is as small as Joe Joe’s meanness level dictates. While conventional clubs are kicking the tires and hauling down the road, Sandies sweat the box. Why inside the box? Learning to drive inside the box teaches bike-handling skills and impresses on you the need to keep these skills up. When I first started the club our Road Box Guy noted I couldn’t stay in the box even if I were on a child’s tricycle. I still finish a beginning rider but thanks to all those who work, so hard to put on the Skills sessions I wound up being able to stay in the box even with figure of 8s. So keep on doing things the Sandy Way. It works. - Bill Sleigh (1935-2007) When Bill was terminally ill, this was his letter of resignation from the Sandies. No one has better captured who we are as Bill did in this Letter. It has become our Credo. This is why we ride - it’s who we are. Previous Next

- SDMC member SKWIRREL memorial
< Back SKWIRREL 1953 - 2013 Shaaron Jackson Lively S haaron Jackson Lively, entered into Eternal rest, Friday, Jan. 25, 2013. Shaaron was born on Sept. 15, 1953, Shaaron was adopted into a home by a father who loved her with all his heart Her two sons miss her and I miss her friendship and humor. She worked very hard to be a good motorcycle rider and was successful. She enjoyed riding with the Sand Dollar Motorcycle Club. Whether on a weekend ride, an overnight adventure or a multi-day adventure to new places. She did her best to be a good Sand Dollar. She paid her dues, worked events and attended most of the meetings and parties. One of her favorite Sandy rides was to Barbers Vintage Motorcycle Museum in Leeds Alabama. She loved her family and the Sand Dollar Family. She enjoyed Thunder Beach Daytona and other adventures. But always with other members when possible. From a frozen ride to Birmingham (27F !!) to hot summer rides, she was always ready to go. Working Sandy events was one of her contributions. Going from being a pillion warmer to passing her MC beginners course, she went from a Honda Rebel 250 to a Honda Shadow 650. Then she stepped up to the Honda Magna 750. She loved riding that bike. She owned two of them a 98 model and a 2003 model She loved the power and loved to ride daily. She went grocery shopping on it. So what if it took half a day and 4 trips to the store. It was all RIDING! She passed in a tragic accident on “Bloody 98” due to an unthinking and uncaring stupid person. (That was shown when he told others “I didn't hit her---she hit ME!” Yes technically that is true. She hit him at 55mph when he pulled out in front of her.) Her friends and family sorely miss her and always will. She is now one of the Sandies in Heaven riding with her angel wings. - SpectreSteve S haaron was taken from us suddenly by a truck that pulled out in front of her while doing one of the things she enjoyed most riding her motorcycle. It was a shock to all that knew her and has left many of us in disbelief and totally heart broken. Shaaron was like her last name the most lively woman I have ever had the pleasure of meeting in my life. Passionate, Fun Loving, Patriotic, Life of the Party, Safe Riding Advocate, are only a few words that can not do justice to describe her. She was a strongly active member in the Patriot Guard and, strongly supported all our military members. She was one of those people that could light up a room when she walked in and, always kept people smiling and laughing. She is survived by her two sons Chris, Shelby, and the love of her life Steve and we are soulfully sorry for your loss, our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your families. She touched so many lives and, will ride on in our in our thoughts and memories forever. - Sandie John Skwirrel logged 59,506 miles as a Sandie and will forever be remembers by all of those fortunate enough to ride with her. - SDMC member Ricky Davis memorial
< Back Ricky Davis 1960 - 2016 Ricky was the kind of guy that was instantly a best friend the moment you met him. His laugh was contagious. He could cut his eyes over at you and you just knew... And you'd often bust out laughing with no words spoken. Rick embodied the "knees in the wind" spirit and was on his bike with anyone that wanted to ride as often as he could. If no one had any particular place in mind, Ricky could materialize other riders from all walks of life out of thin air. He always had a group ready to ride at a moments notice. From random business openings out in the middle of nowhere, to some of the dodgiest places you never thought you'd meet new friends, Ricky rode everywhere. Always the the back, because his pipes were so loud no one else could stand it. We'd get to a stop and somehow he'd be the only one covered in road grime; grinning from ear to ear. I think of him every time I get on a bike. He was a master mechanic that never worked on his bike. When someone would try and tease him about it or ask for his opinion on how to fix their's, Ricky Ricky would quib "I used to love cars man. I want to be the guy out riding instead of sweating over them all day. It's not fun when you've got to fix 'em too". I had the pleasure of riding across the country with Ricky and Carolann. It was my first long trip, and he taught me the importance of going wherever the road leads and not getting caught up in the small stuff. Ricky was an active member of the Sand Dollar MC, a honorary member of the Green Knights MMC Chapter 89, a BACA supporter, and rode with the Emerald Coast HOGs chapter # 3605. Ricky was a great friend to all who had the pleasure of meeting him. - BobbyB Previous Next

- Waldo | Sand Dollar M/C | Secretary
< About Waldo Secretary Victory XCT Bobby has been a Sandie since 2012 and was given his road name when he was working a stop for one of the poker runs. He didn’t verify the actual location of the stop he was working and went to the same location from the last poker run he worked. Not being where he was expected to be, “Waldo” quickly caught on as his moniker. Bobby has a varied work career from retail, fast food, construction, two tours in the Air Force, and ultimately a test engineer. He enjoys live music shows, playing drums and riding. His first bike was a Yamaha V-Star 1100 and now rides a Victory Cross Country Tour which is his ‘dream bike’. Bobby joined the Sand Dollars because he didn’t know very many people that rode and wanted to learn the area back roads. The things Bobby likes best about the Sandies are the diversity, experience of the members, safe riding practices, trip planning, and maintenance. The Sandies are a huge resource and always willing to share their knowledge. He attends skills when he can, as he enjoys the practice and learns a lot. However, he also likes to just ride and will skip them in order to ride someplace new. Bobby participates in the annual tours, and doesn't need much convincing when there's a discussion about an overnight trip. Bobby’s dream ride is the Million Dollar Highway, and touring along the California coast through the Redwoods and into Utah and Washington. The Sandies are diverse, enthusiastic and accepting of everyone. Bobby looks forward to meeting and welcoming new members as they come on board. secretary@sanddollarmc.com < Previous Next >
